The
Nine Ladies Stone Circle is a Bronze Age circle of 10 stones in the Peak District National Park. The tenth stone was discovered in 1976. According to legend the Nine Ladies were turned to stone for dancing on a Sunday.
The circle appears to have been used by modern Druids as a holy place to worship nature. Their offering was left at the centre of the circle.

That is very cool! I wish we had that kind of history here in the U.S.

ReplyDeleteVery interesting! I thought maybe you were kidding about the offering, but maybe not with the mushrooms???
ReplyDeleteAnd a beautiful offering it is.
ReplyDeleteFascinating and maybe they had a few too many "mushrooms."
ReplyDeleteI've heard of modern druids, but I've never known much about them. This gives a little look into what they do.
ReplyDeleteAs Sheila spotted, the picture was taken in autumn. The offering includes acorns, ferns, heather, pine cones, hazelnuts, apples, three different kinds of fungi and what I think are rowan berries.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful picture it looks like a collage of nature. I love the mushrooms and the colors the whole thing is very Zen nature. Great work. jj
