Here's a closer look at
Bivi Cave which is close to the footpath from Settle to the Attermire area.
There's a great view from inside Bivi Cave looking towards Sugar Loaf Hill. The cave is only a couple of metres deep so technically it's classed as a rock shelter.
I want to crawl in there with some fresh water, a bottle of whisky, some bread & cheese, and a good book!
ReplyDeleteProbably a lantern and blanket, too. :)
It's still an impressive cave to me, a person who has been in only one cave.
ReplyDeleteOOh! You did it! I want to bring blanket and picnic gear with a good book to read there! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, wow. When I first looked at the top picture, I saw the outline of a Schnauzer dog! Anyone else see that?
ReplyDeleteIt would be so cool to go explore caves. You're really lucky to live where you do - so much history.
ReplyDeleteDon't care if its just a "rock shelter." I like it. Does Bivi come from bivouac?
ReplyDeleteThe second pic is such an eery perspective. Looks like a wild animal is about to attack.
ReplyDeleteWell, now that I've seen it from the inside out, I'm with Amber. I'll add a bottle of wine to the list. Pretty cool,
ReplyDeleteJust unforgettable photos. I was transfered into the fairyland at a glimpse. Thank you for the wonderful journey. The Entrance into the caves looks so pictorially. All I can to do now is just to gratefully sit in an awe. Thank you for the sharing your album with us. You awoke me to dreams.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I can see him now, sitting patiently looking to the left.
ReplyDeleteSharkbytes, I assume the name comes from bivouac. The first mention of the cave I can find is a magazine article of 1971 which comments "sleeps two".
