On Saturday I issued a challenge to identify a mystery photo. Thanks for taking part and thanks for all the great guesses, some of which are quite entertaining! Chuck from
Secondary Roads was the first to recognise the pollen. Then Sheila from
A Postcard a Day identified the flower as a crocus. Nice work :-)
Can you figure out what's in the photo I took this afternoon? If you can, I'm offering an above the fold ad for a month on English Wilderness and Daily Photo Gallery. Three ads are up for grabs:
ReplyDelete1) The first ad goes to the first person to comment with one of the keywords I'm looking for.
2) The second ad will be won by the commenter with the most accurate answer. Try to be specific.
3) To win the third ad, post a similar photo on your blog and comment with the link here. The best photo wins the ad.
So what are you waiting for, good luck!
It looks like some kind of lichen growing on stone.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I'm stumped, but I'll give it a go anyway. Shadows, sunlight and yellow petals on floor boards?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like pollen on a blossom, but I'm unable to identify the flower.
ReplyDeleteThey are mosses on a tree.
ReplyDeleteI guess the picture is taken from a tree, wooden fence or a marble stone floor. The yellow "dots" are fungus :)
ReplyDeleteA close shot of a white flower, the yellow dots are the pollen
ReplyDeletepollen on wood decking planks
ReplyDeleteI'd almost guess pollen on a petal, but it seems too early for that. Or could it be on a crocus perhaps?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that it is moss on some kind of tree bark. I would love to win the prize, but I think that I am pretty far off with my guess.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea but I'll take a wild guess. Looks like the bark of a tree. Oh, don't laugh please. :)
ReplyDeleteMy brain doesn't work with guessing game, John! But I think I have seen this sort of moss or rotten thingy on the tree trunk before. I'm not sure what it's called though.
ReplyDeleteIt almost looks like a picture of a painting, or a train of a dress mixed with hidden faces. Mmm
ReplyDeleteI would guess that it is pollen on an butterfly or moth.
ReplyDeleteLooks a little like one of Hermann Rorschach's ink blot tests. lol
ReplyDeleteNo seriously makes me think of moss growing on a tree trunk, but I'm just guessing.
Great contest - I'll post about for you on Blogs With Wings!
I still can't figure this out after numerous views. I'm thinking a shot of trees with leaves that you photoshopped with different colors :) That's all I've got. I'll be back, though.
ReplyDeletePollen on flower
ReplyDeleteI have to say I don't have a clue as to what this is. It looks like a shower curtain with algae or fungus on it. This is really a mystery to me.
ReplyDeleteHi John, I think this could be pollen on a flower, possibly a crocus as these are out in bloom already down here in Southampton. It is just a guess!
ReplyDeleteOkay. My guess is that this is macro photograph of crocus flower petals with the pollen from the crocus on the petals.
ReplyDeleteAt first glance, Pollen came to mind on a purple flower . . .
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great guesses, some of which are quite entertaining! Chuck from Secondary Roads was first recognise the pollen. Then Sheila from A Postcard a Day identified the flower as a crocus. Nice work, I've already featured your ads in the sidebar :-)
ReplyDeleteAldon from Orient Lodge and Lucy from DSLR Images also deserve some recognition for correctly guessing the flower is a crocus. I'll feature your ads when the two winning ads have completed.
Thanks to everyone who took part. :-)
I had come back today to say that I believe it is a crocus. Too late. We don't have that particular variety around here. Ours are all yellow. Anyway, thanks for the tip of the hat.
ReplyDeleteAtchooo! And great shot, John! :o)
