Hunting Kestrel

Kestrel, Falco tinnunculus

The Kestrel is hovering over the fields watching for the slightest movement before diving down for the kill. :-)

  1. Beautiful! :) We've hawks and bald eagles and osprey and falcons, but not many kestrels. I love raptor birds.

  2. Great shot. The most common raptor around here is the red-tail hawk.

  3. Wonderful photo! Here we have Redtail hawks and turkey vultures (they are pretty...and huge!) but I never have my camera handy...must try harder....

  4. What a fantastic picture. This bird looks huge. We have hawks and turkey vultures but I have never heard of the kestrel.

  5. I check in with your website form time to time from this side of the Atlantic. I just wanted to let you know that I admire your writing and observations. The landscape is much different here than in the New England states, and there is so much for me to learn about your ecosystems. Thank you.
