Swan

mute swan on nest

While walking around a local lake I spotted a mute swan on her nest. I snapped a photo before taking a detour to avoid getting too close :-)

We have a lot of them here, but they are the alien species for us.

Why are swans so graceful? Simply gorgeous!

She looks so serene. I suspect she would have looked less peaceful if you had wandered too close to her nest. Beautiful white feathers; vicious serrated beak!

What a beautiful picture. She is in her Madonna pose.

I remember taking a photo of a swan down by a river when she and her friend decided it was time for dinner. They were obviously very used to people giving them bread - and I had none. They took some persuading, and they are big!

I love seeing swans. I see them every once in awhile here. It's especially good to see one on a nest, like yours.
