Here's something I don't see very often. The tidal River Witham froze over a couple of nights ago. As the tide went out, the river left sheets of broken ice on the banks, freezing over again at low tide.

I love the patterns in the ice. Just let my eyes go blurry and look at the swirls and the crackles.
I think it's the patterns on the ice that I like too. The pattern of the ice on the river bank is every bit as interesting on closer examination.
Yes, I agree with everyone that those patterns give it a unique look. It's a great shot with the blue and white contrasts that blend perfectly. Love it.
