I spotted these snails hiding on the nettles at Snipedales Country Park.

Now this photo is really one of those unbelievable things that just should be field under alien encounters. Is it a plant, animal, bird, Christmas ornament? Great stuff!

It was amazing how the snails got up the plant and stayed on it.

I had no idea snails could climb like that! I wonder if it is harder to get down than climb up? (how do they turn around?)

That's something I've never seen before. I never thought a snail would climb a plant in that way.

The nettles are almost 1m high. I hadn't really considered it remarkable they'd climbed up, I just took it for granted. I assume snails eat nettles?
