Caterpillar Hunt

cinnabar caterpillars on ragwort, Senecio jacobaea

This morning I went on a caterpillar hunt, looking specifically for caterpillars of the Cinnabar Moth. I found plenty of ragwort where the moth lays her eggs, but had to search for a while before I discovered a few caterpillars :-)

Awesome caterpillar. I'm pretty sure we don't have that one here. It's very distinctive.

I love the colours of those caterpillars...back home in Scotland I use to do a fair bit of wandering around in the countryside and I don't think I have ever came across caterpillars like that before.

That's a great capture! I don't think I've ever seen an orange caterpillar. And the flowers against the blue sky look pretty.

Looking forward to the week ahead?

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come visit again tomorrow!

Oh I LOVE caterpillars!! They are such cute little things and remind me of the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. You photos are really quite exquisite.
